Joanna's Junior Infants, January

7th Feb 2025

In January, Joanna’s Junior Infant class had a month full of excitement, exploration, and learning. We kicked off the month by focusing on the theme of People Who Help Us. The children had a blast dressing up as police officers and firefighters, and they enjoyed building hospitals and schools as part of their play.

In Physical Education, we explored the theme of dance, where the children were encouraged to move freely to the beat of the music, creating their own dances and having so much fun in the process.

Our Chinese New Year theme introduced the children to new traditions and customs, and they loved learning about this vibrant celebration. We also began the Stay Safe program, helping the children understand safety rules in a fun and engaging way.

On the maths front, we focused on counting and forming numbers 1 to 4. We revisited all of our Jolly Phonics sounds and have started learning how to blend them and read some high frequency words. It has been a month filled with plenty of fun, laughter, and learning!

The students have enjoyed creating junk art this week! Many thanks to all who sent in some junk! We are exploring the theme of friendship through the Stay Safe program, while our Learn Together theme will be all about LOVE!

We can't wait to share more of our learning adventures with you through pictures at the end of the month!

Many thanks,

Mary & Irene
