Garden Gang

The Garden Gang have been busy getting ready for another growing season.
We did a big job in the herb garden in February with thanks to the parents, pupils and grandparents who helped out, even Wendy escaped from the office to join in with the weeding! Iona and Claire had a messy job digging the compost out, but the polytunnel is nearly ready for loads of delicious fruit and vegetables to be grown this year. Des came along too and helped to fix the fence that had blown over in the storm.

It’s great to see so many classes doing their bit to grow seeds inside while the weather is still cold. 1st class are growing herbs and vegetables, 3rd class are growing strawberries and potatoes, the infants have been growing flowers and seeds.

The garden gang is recruiting new members this year so if you are interested in growing, cooking, painting or just being outdoors then let us know! Anyone from 3rd – 6th class or any parent, guardian, or grandparent can join. We will meet once a month, usually on a Friday, and we will let you know by email as it’s weather dependent. You don’t have to be a garden expert, we are all learning along the way!

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped out so far to make our garden a wonderful place for plants, children, insects and adults!

See you soon,
The Garden Gang! ?
