1st Class – Deirdre

First class really enjoyed book week this year. Lots of secret readers visited our class. We went to the book fair, we designed our own book covers and we had DEAR time everyday!

During anti-bullying week we wrote accrostic poems about respect with Barry’s 4th class.
In December Richard from SEAI came to our class to teach us all about energy. We did experiments and had a great time learning about where energy comes from, how it changes and how to save it.
Aodhán’s 5th class came to our class and put on sock puppet shows about friendship for us. It was great fun!
We’ve been learning all about different festivals this term: Hallowe’en, Diwali, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Advent and Christmas. It’s been a busy term and we hope everyone has a well deserved winter break!

First class have had an exciting autumn.

We harvested apples in September, then we ate delicious apple crumble at the Harvest Festival.

We had a great time at the beach in Skerries, we built sand castles, collected shells and we did a two-minute beach clean.

In October we went for an Autumn walk to Pat Bobbett’s farm to see the sheep, chickens, vegetables and his dog Holly.

We loved STEM week in school; our week was full of maths trails, science experiments and loads of construction!
